Short Biography of the Potter:

Adelle Nampeyo was born in 1959 into the Corn Clan of the Hopi-Tewa Nation. She is a great-granddaughter of the famous potter Nampeyo, who is credited with reviving the ancient Sikyatki polychrome pottery style. She began making pottery in 1979 and is known for her traditional Hopi pottery, black and red or yellow jars and bowls. She specializes in the handmade traditional ancient Sikyatki polychrome pottery which her family is famous for. Adelle is the daughter of Elva Nampeyo and granddaughter of Fannie Nampeyo and is the great granddaughter of Nampeyo of Hano. She is a member of the Corn Clan and signs with a corn stalk under her name!
