Vintage 1969 Paramount Pictures 12x15 Movie 2-Sided Poster True Grit w/John Wayne & Glen Campbell RARE

This is a smaller promotional theatre release folded poster.  The poster has no border edges and was stored folded.  It measures 12” X 15”.  The black and white poster is printed on both sides.  The back side has four interesting articles on the film, list of all cast members, credits and a lengthy story line, but fold creases are visible on front of the poster.

John Wayne

His real name was Marion Robert Morrison. The 6’4” John Wayne won a Best Actor Academy Award for “True Grit”.  At the time of the filming, he had one lung due to cancer. Wayne’s nickname was “Duke”.  He was an American Icon that acted in 250 movies over four decades.

True Grit

This Western was filmed in Quray, Co in 1969 and very successful. Glen Campbell, as a Texas Ranger, co-stars chasing the outlaws. Based on a book, it loosely follows a real person portrayed in the film as “Rooster Cogburn” (John Wayne).

ABOUT WHERE THIS POSTER CAME FROM

These promotional film materials are part of many items acquired from the Cairo Home Movies and Camera Shop. Please check often as many will become available in the near future.

BACKSTORY:  Frank G Cairo, Owner of Cairo Home Movies 

Frank Cairo moved from the Bronx, New York to Kenosha, WI in 1943. The store was open until 1997 with his passing.  In addition to cameras, Frank loved movies and movie stars. He began collecting 8, 16 and 35mm films, some in Italian.  Eventually, Cairo Home Movies became the largest private and rental film collection in Wisconsin. In summers, there were free outdoor movie nights for neighborhood kids. Not satisfied with only the movies, he eventually started collecting movie posters, catalogs and books.  This collection includes Fox Warner Home Video posters and promotion materials. Look for the sale of many of these items in the coming weeks/months.

CONDITION NOTE: Used, but in good/fair physical condition given its age. The movie video poster was stored folded and has fold crease marks. There are several tears and the folds are visible in the front of the poster. There are also some ware type scuff marks (see pictures). Poster has a few tears (primarily on the edges and some of the folds), and edge/fold wear (see pictures). This is an unframed poster and it will be carefully packaged so it can be safely shipped.
