Fenton Art Glass Company was founded in 1905 by brothers Frank L. and John W. Fenton in Martins Ferry, Ohio. The company quickly moved to Williamstown, West Virginia, and began producing their own glass in 1907. Fenton became famous for its carnival glass, which was inspired by Tiffany and Steuben and known for its vibrant colors and iridescent finishes. The company was a leader in hand-made glass production in the United States until it ceased manufacturing in 2011.
