Antique 1920s Reverse Painted Intaglios Victorian Carved Glass Swallow Bird & Rose Brooch
This best I could determine from internet research is this piece appears to be a reverse painted intaglios and dates in the 1920s or early 1930s. It is costume jewelery made in the Victorian style, reminiscent of reverse carved and painted intaglio glass or rock crystal jewelry. This appears to be brass metal with a glass center.
Approx. Dimensions: 1-1/2" W x 1" T x 1/4" Thick
BACKGROUND INFO ON Reverse Painted Intaglios (which is what this piece appears to be):
A Reverse Painted Intaglios Victorian Brooch is a type of jewelry that was popular during the Victorian era. It is made with a glass or crystal cabochon that has been carved in reverse, so that the image appears when viewed from the front. The carving is then painted with oil paints, creating a three-dimensional effect. These brooches were often used as decorative pieces, but they could also be used to mark special occasions or to commemorate loved ones.
Sold as is. No warranty from the Seller. No Returns.
CONDITION NOTE: Used, but in overall very good condition for its age. This piece appears to be brass metal with a glass center, which has some surface scratches on it (see pictures, but it was hard to capture the surface scratches). Since these are vintage pieces, they do come with natural imperfections that add to their character. Does not come with any original boxes, packaging, or any related paperwork. Will be packed carefully and insured for safe shipping. See detailed (zoom-able) pictures to know what you are purchasing.
