Short Background on the Manufacturer

Midwinter Pottery was founded by William Robinson Midwinter in 1910 in Burslem, England. It became one of the leading innovators in British ceramic tableware in the 1950s and 1960s under director Roy Midwinter. Midwinter recruited famous designers like Terence Conran and focused on sleek, contemporary shapes and patterns. The company was acquired by J&G Meakin in 1968 and production eventually ceased in 1987. Midwinter pottery from the 1950s-60s is now highly collectible.
