LGB 23251 Disney Disneyland Railroad Fred Gurley #3 G Scale Forney Locomotive
EW003
Rare and highly collectible LGB 23251 Disneyland Railroad No. 3 "Fred Gurley" G Scale Steam Locomotive, an authentic Disney-licensed model manufactured by Lehmann in Germany. Originally released as part of the sought-after LGB Disney Starter Set #72350 in 2004, this beautifully detailed locomotive recreates one of Disneyland's most historic and recognizable steam engines.
The Fred Gurley locomotive features the distinctive dark green and red Disneyland Railroad color scheme, gold-colored decorative fittings, silver smokebox and smokestack, detailed running gear, and integrated rear coal bunker.
This G-scale model represents Disneyland Railroad Engine No. 3, named in honor of Fred G. Gurley, former president of the Atchison, Topeka and Santa Fe Railway.
The original full-sized locomotive was manufactured by Baldwin Locomotive Works of Philadelphia in 1894, bearing builder's number 14065. Originally used in Louisiana sugar operations, it was acquired by Walt Disney and rebuilt for use at Disneyland. The Fred Gurley entered Disneyland Railroad service on March 28, 1958.
The LGB reproduction incorporates many distinctive features of the original locomotive, including its 2-4-4 wheel arrangement, detailed engineer's cab, decorative bell, smokestack, brass-colored piping, and authentic Disneyland Railroad markings.
Designed for G-gauge railroad operation on standard 45 mm track, the model uses an electrically powered motor rather than actual steam. LGB originally equipped this locomotive model with directional lighting and a smoke generator. These functions have not been tested on this example.
The locomotive's underside is marked LGB 23251, 0-24 VDC, Analog + Digital, and Made in Western Germany. The analog/digital marking is reproduced from the model, but its installed decoder configuration has not been independently verified.
A detailed engineer figure is positioned inside the cab, which also features miniature controls, gauges, and other realistic operating details.
This collectible is ideal for serious Disneyana collectors, Disneyland Railroad enthusiasts, G-scale model railroad hobbyists, garden railway collectors, and anyone interested in historic railroad reproductions.
This offering includes the Fred Gurley locomotive and 24 inches of Lehmann LGB G-gauge track. This is not the complete original #72350 starter set, and no passenger cars, transformer, or controller are included.

MANUFACTURER BACKGROUND:
LGB, originally produced by Ernst Paul Lehmann Patentwerk in Nuremberg, Germany, became internationally recognized for its durable large-scale model railroad equipment.
LGB introduced its large-scale railway system in 1968, establishing a strong reputation for high-quality G-gauge trains designed for indoor and outdoor operation.
Through its licensed Disney railroad collection, LGB reproduced several famous Disneyland and Disney-related locomotives and passenger cars.
The Fred Gurley model was introduced as part of the Disneyland Railroad-themed LGB #72350 starter set in 2004. Its detailed construction and Disney railroad connection make it a desirable addition to specialized collections.
COUNTRY OF MANUFACTURE:
Germany. The locomotive carries a Made in Western Germany marking on its underside, apparently reflecting older LGB tooling or components. That marking does not establish that this Disney version was manufactured before German reunification.
