Best we can determine from internet research is this combination mechanical pencil and cigarette lighter is unbranded, but may have a model number of ULX. It is engraved on the end of the removable cover with the initials "BB" in a script font and is also engraved with "ULX" in a smaller script font size (see pictures). It also looks similar to a pencil-lighter from Banner USA.

CONDITION NOTE: Used, but in overall good condition. The mechanical pencil still has lead which nicely moves in and out when the barrel is turned. The lighter, while untested, looks like it may be able to be restored to working order with some tender loving care. This piece, being an antique, has patina and light surface scratches, surface discoloration, and finish wear from use (see pictures). Since this is a vintage piece, it does come with natural imperfections that add to its character (zoom into photos to look for any imperfections). Does not come with any original boxes, packaging, or any related paperwork. See detailed (zoom-able) pictures to know what you are purchasing. 

 

Short Background:

While the "ULX" marking does not seem to identify a manufacturer, items like this unique pencil/lighter combo were sometimes produced in the mid-20th century as novelties or promotional items, especially in the United States automotive industry. The gold-tone finish and sleek design suggest it was meant to be a practical but stylish accessory for the era.

 

Release Date/Age: Likely 1940s - 1960s based on design and materials.
